Our school organizes events from time to time to help students understand the importance of certain occasions in their life.
The students of Step By Step HighSchool celebrated Mother’s Day on 8th May, 2015. Teachers ensured that students understood the importance of a mother and the role that she plays in their lives. The special occasion was celebrated with poem recitation, dance performances and other activities. The students thoroughly enjoyed an interesting activity wherein a child was blind-folded and had to recognize his/her mother just by touching her hands. Every student was able to successfully recognize his/her mother.
To mark the importance of Labour Day, Step By Step Highschool honoured its hardworking employees. Principal Mrs. Gunita Grewal distributed sweet boxes amongst the school helpers. During the school assembly, students of Grade 5 enacted a skit which conveyed the message of abolishing child labour. The students were also told why this day is celebrated. It aimed to provide education to all. The efforts of the students were fruitful and appreciated by all.
Students of Step By Step HighSchool celebrated the ‘World Earth Day’ on 24th April, 2015. A special assembly marked the event wherein pupils expressed their views through speeches and poems, and agreed to prioritize earth protection. Students were sensitized about the importance of saving the environment.
An intraclass poster making competition was also held wherein students painted their thoughts on nature conservation. All the students were shown a video on ‘Save the Earth’.
The students of Grade VI and VII visited a government school of a village to create awareness about Earth Day amongst other students. They performed a skit; banners and colourful charts were shown reading “Go Green” and “Plant a tree today.” The students also displayed how to make useful articles out of waste material to emphasize the importance of recycling. Gifts were distributed among the students of the government school and respected director Mrs. Gunita Grewal expressed her views on conservation of planet Earth. Advocate Nirmaljit Singh ji and Sarpanch, Loharka Kalan were also present on this occasion.
Baisakhi is a celebrated festival of Punjab and we ensure that our students understand their culture. The teachers opened the festival with a dance, followed by the involvement of the students and Grade 4 staff. A dholi was called to play the dhol with gidda performance, and folk songs.
Ashtami was celebrated at Step By Step HighSchool on 27th March, 2015. During the assembly, Principal Ms. Gunita Grewal, along with other teachers told the students why and how Ashtami is celebrated. They were also informed of the customs followed on this day and the right rituals to celebrate the religious ceremony.
